Substantial Contribution to Climate Change Mitigation
As an enabling activity, software and IT consultancy services must directly enable substantial GHG reductions in client operations. Qualifying services include development of energy management software, carbon accounting platforms, smart building management systems, fleet optimisation tools, industrial process control systems for emission reduction, and climate data analytics services.
The enabling effect must be verified through documented case studies or third-party assessments showing measurable emission reductions achieved by clients using the developed solutions. The provider must use a recognised GHG quantification methodology and make results available to clients. The activity must not extend the lifetime of fossil-fuel-dependent systems or delay the transition to low-carbon alternatives.
Substantial Contribution to Climate Change Adaptation
Where services focus on adaptation, they must support clients in conducting climate risk assessments, developing adaptation strategies, or implementing resilience solutions based on current climate science and IPCC projections.

The provider's own IT infrastructure must be assessed for climate risks per Appendix A. Business continuity plans must address service disruption from extreme weather events, power outages, and network failures.

Office and data infrastructure operated by the service provider must implement water efficiency measures. Where the provider operates or manages data centres for service delivery, water usage effectiveness must be tracked and optimised.

The provider must implement responsible hardware management practices, including extending device lifespans, refurbishing equipment, and ensuring certified recycling of electronic waste. Software design must consider computational efficiency to minimise resource consumption.

Electronic waste generated by the provider must be managed through certified WEEE processors. Office operations must comply with local environmental regulations for waste segregation and hazardous material handling.
